The Little Mermaid (1989): Laugh all you like, I’d never actually seen this before. It was an enjoyable way to spend 90 minutes.

Dune (1984): I went into this fully expecting it to be bad. I wasn’t expecting it to completely miss the point of the book like it did. It spent an hour and a half going through things which could have been covered quickly, and then skipped over most of the important stuff in the second half.
The soundtrack was pretty hilariously great, though. Same goes for the special effects, too.

Iron Man (2008): Something I neglected to mention last time is that the only other film leading up to The Avengers I’ve seen is Thor. Which is weird, because I spent almost the entirety of Iron Man feeling like I’d seen it befor
Of course, I would have been okay with seeing it twice, because Iron Man was totally rad.
Also, I’ve since figured out what gave me that feeling of nostalgia.

The Avengers (2012): A perfect balance of humour, intelligence, sexiness, punching things and explosions. I enjoyed this very much.

Life in a Day (2011): This is an interesting experiment in film making which was certainly worth watching. It’s available on Youtube for free here.

Drive (2011): I was not expecting this to be nearly as violent as it was. Ryan Gosling was great, Carey Mulligan was extremely attractive, and the soundtrack was amazing.

Anchorman (2004): Happy 25th post, everybody.
(500) Days of Summer (2009): I really wasn’t prepared for how sad this film was going to be.
On that other hand, That Strapping Young Man From Inception was excellent, Zooey Deschanel alternated between lovable and annoying, and the non-linear presentation was really, really clever.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005): I’m not normally a huge fan of Steve Carell, but I actually really enjoyed this.
PS: I watched this on Youtube, which you can read about on my blog.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2012): I actually went to see this film almost purely for the promise of Bill Nighy. I was not disappointed - he was amazing, and the rest of the movie was pretty good too.
